Seniors Can Survive After Heart Surgery

Most senior citizens I know are afraid of Heart Surgery because of the risk factor. Some of them would just opt to forego the medical procedure since they would reason out that they are anyway close to the end of the line.

But they have to understand that many seniors not only stand a good chance of surviving heart surgery, they can also continue a good quality of life. According to the study, five years after the operations, 60 percent were still surviving. And between the survivors, 90 percent were leading active and have independent lives. Age should not be a reason for doctors to forget about the possibility of heart surgery for their seniors’ patients. If patients with heart problems are in good health, this surgery can significantly improve their quality of life.

Mortality Rate of Gastric Bypass Surgery

We often here feature stories on TV about people battling obesity, people who are too fat that they can not perform simple daily activities anymore such as walking, sitting and standing. And so now, GBP is a very common procedure worldwide. The procedure is not that simple, in fact although the resulting weight loss is typically dramatic, the long-term mortality rate of gastric bypass patients before has been low. But thanks to modern technology and I presume lots of practice, it has shown a remarkably reduced rate by up to 40%; however, complications are common.
